Greetings, and thank you for
inquiring about
Shepherd of
the Hills
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Flagstaff,
Arizona. Our congregation has been in Flagstaff since 1958 and we are
looking forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2008!. It is our
desire at Shepherd of the Hills to
be a welcoming congregation, where you will find the joy of Jesus
Christ present in, around, and among those who fellowship here.
We strive together,
seeking to know what it means to be a disciple of
Jesus in the 21st century, by living example, by sharing and
encouraging, and by formal learning. We are a praying congregation,
seeking God’s wisdom in all we do. Won’t you come join us on the
journey of faith? May God’s grace and blessings abound for you.

Communion
Practices
The
sacrament of Holy
Communion is celebrated at both worship
services on Sunday mornings, and at other special services held during
the Church year.
As
an ELCA congregation
we practice open communion. All baptized
believers who trust in the presence of Christ in the Holy meal are
welcome to come to the table and receive. Children receive communion
training at approximately third grade.
Children
who are younger
and customarily receive communion in their
home congregation are welcome to the table. Children (and adults) who
are not baptized and/or have not had communion training are invited to
the table for a blessing.
